FAQs
DIGITAL CONVERSION
Why Should I Preserve My Older Analog Memories?
Your memories are priceless, and irreplaceable. Your family probably has THOUSANDS of home movies and photos in multiple formats. The benefit of preserving your memories is two fold: first, by keeping a digital copy of your family videos and photos, you preserve these memories forever. Second, modern technologies allow you to enjoy your digital videos and photos in many more ways than traditional analog home movies and photos. With your memories in a modern digital format, you will be able to effortlessly organize, label, and share your memories library. In addition, you can easily create personalized gifts — like video montages and photo books – for special occasions.
How Can I Get You My Memories? I Don’t Want Them To Get Damaged Or Lost In The Mail.
We provide pick up and delivery from your home to ensure your cherished memories are safe. At that time, we go through everything with you to make sure we answer any questions you may have. We will then send you an accurate estimate for your approval prior to starting the work.
Half Of My Stuff Isn’t Labeled. How Will I Organize It?
If your box of analog memories is unlabeled and unorganized, consider yourself VERY normal. 99% of all people fall into this category. No worries. Don’t let that stop you from starting the transfer process. We’ll make sure to label each asset to correspond with the digital file name. Bottom line, you don’t need to watch, organize nor label your analog memories ahead of time. We’ll personally come to your location and pick up and drop off your cherished memories to avoid lost items in shipment.
Will I Get My Original Analog Memories Back?
Of course! You will receive all your original videotapes, movie films, photos, slides and negatives back – unharmed.
How Do I Tell How Many Feet Of Movie Film Are On A Reel?
Most home movie film reels have markings on the side of the (metal) reel that indicate the length. You will traditionally see 200 feet, 300 feet, or 400 feet for 8mm or Super 8. Traditionally, the smallest reels (plastic), the ones that measure 3 inches in diameter, are 50-foot reels.
The length and run time of 8mm film and Super 8 film are as follows:
• 3 inch reel (50 feet) 2-3 minutes
• 4 inch reel (100 feet) 5-6 minutes
• 5 inch reel (200 feet) 12-14 minutes
• 6 inch reel (300 feet) 19-22 minutes
• 7 inch reel (400 feet) 26-29 minutes
16mm film running time will be approximately half of 8mm film or Super8 film.
